Below you will see a picture of Abigail with an alligator. The alligator was a gift from a coworker of mine, Sue. Her kids had this alligator and loved it. They have outgrown it so we inherited it. Abigail liked it as you can see. I left it on the front porch and even told myself I should move that to the backyard, thinking it might be a temptation for someone to steal. Well, I got distracted with something else and didn't move it and guess what? It was stolen!
As was my pot of flowers that you see in the background of the picture below. I was bummed because I actually had been watering them this year and they were pretty!
We called the police to report them missing. You never know, just maybe they would see them while on patrol. I had a feeling they weren't really going to look when the officer who came out didn't even ask me what the flower pot looked like! But I was hopeful to get it and the alligator back. Well, about a week later I had a hunch to go drive down the other side of our street. We have a group of boys who "walk" the neighborhood and one of them lives there. Guess what I found in the front yard?! My pot of flowers!! Guess what I saw in their backyard?!?! The alligator!!!! I went home and called the police. The officer asked me how I could prove that they were mine. I showed him the above pictures. He then asked me if there were any identifying marks on either. I told him that our pot was broken at the base. He asked me if we had our names written on them anywhere. I said no and he said that if they say that they are theirs he can't do anything about it. I noted that it would be a mighty coincidence if they had the same two items that I had photos of on our porch, with the same kind of flowers, and pot with a broken base. He went down the street. When he came back he had both! I was really glad the alligator had returned and my flowers were dead (I am trying to revive them). He said that the boy down the street had problems with the other boys in our neighborhood and THEY had stolen them and put them in his yard to frame him. Turns out he and his family had called the police the same day I had reported them missing to tell the police that these items were dropped off in their front yard. Nice to know my tax dollars are at work!
Caleb's cute hand!
Abigail attempting to blow bubbles in the water! She doesn't get the concept, she just opens her mouth. She's adorable!

what a crazy story. i'm glad you got them back.
What a crazy story. Although, if I was trying to 'frame' someone for theft, I'm not sure I'd take a Little Tikes Rockin' Gator....maybe a car....
