Abigail was down on a 1/4 Liter flow canyala and was doing pretty well until yesterday and then she started having some desats and was (okay there is no way I can spell it but basically breathing erratically and having a hard time occasionally). So yesterday they gave her a second blood transfusion. I haven't gone in yet today (I will here in a bit) but hopefully that has given her a bit more energy. We talked to Dr. Spitzmiller and the unofficial results of her liver scan showed everything was okay. Yeah-praise the Lord. They are still messing around with her feeds trying to figure out this liquid poop. The nurse said it smelled like a bilirubin poop and it was mustard yellow. (Ah, I know, probably to much of visual, eh? You'll never think of mustard the same way :)) I am excited for them to figure this out because then they can battle getting her to feed from a bottle which brings her one step closer to coming home (of course with her desats under control).

Oh, I forgot, her potassium is good, but her sodium is low. So they are trying to get her sodium up. However, her little feet are starting to swell again but they can't give her the diuretics because they caused her potassium and sodium to drop the last time. So once they get the K and Na back up they can start giving her the diuretics again (which also help her breath better). It seems to be a bit of a vicous cycle.
Love, Cheryl
